Birth of Twins with Top Executive of His Tech Company 'Neuralink'
Gave Birth in November Last Year... Tweeted "Love All My Children" in June This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, reportedly had twins last year with an executive of his neurotechnology company ‘Neuralink,’ Business Insider reported on the 6th (local time).
According to Business Insider, Musk had twins in November last year with Shivon Zilis, a top executive at Neuralink. The related fact was reported after Business Insider obtained court documents petitioning that the children take Musk’s surname and include part of their mother’s surname as their middle name. The petition was filed at the Travis County Court in Texas, USA.
The twins were born in Austin, Texas, and are known to be living in Travis County. The twins were born just weeks before Musk’s daughter with his former partner Grimes, who was born via surrogate.
Shivon Zilis, who gave birth to the twins, is a Yale graduate and is considered a world-renowned researcher in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. She was selected as one of the eight leading women leaders in AI by Forbes in 2020. Born in Canada, Zilis served as Tesla’s project lead from May 2017 to August 2019, worked at venture capital firm Bloomberg Beta, and is currently a project director at Neuralink. She is also the youngest board member of OpenAI, an AI research institute co-founded by Musk.

In early 2020, during the height of COVID-19 lockdowns, when the California state government ordered Tesla to halt factory operations and Musk strongly opposed it, Zilis defended him on her Twitter, saying, "There is no one I respect and admire more than Musk."
With this, Musk, who already had seven children, became a father of nine. He had six children with his first wife, writer Justine Wilson, though their first child died of sudden infant death syndrome at 10 weeks old in 2002. His son Xavier Musk recently changed his gender from male to female and applied to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, taking her mother’s surname. She also declared a break from Musk, saying she did not want to be associated with her father. Later, Musk dated Canadian singer Grimes for three years, having two children, but they broke up in September 2021, three months before their second child was born.
Musk, who rarely shared photos of his children, last week posted a photo on his Twitter of Pope Francis meeting with his four sons. On June 19th, Father’s Day, he tweeted, "I love all my children."
Meanwhile, Musk and Zilis did not respond to media requests for comments, including from Forbes, regarding the birth of the twins.
