[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a 'School Violence Prevention Book Talk, I am the Mother of a Perpetrator' for 100 parents each at the Nambu Education Support Office and Haeundae Education Support Office at 7 p.m. on the 13th and 10 a.m. on the 14th, respectively.
The book talk is hosted by the city education office and organized by News1, aiming to reflect on the role of parents in a reality where victims of school violence can also become perpetrators.
The book talk informs parents about the seriousness of school violence through actual coverage of school violence scenes.
Director Kim Ju-seong, a psychiatrist who was a victim of school violence, and Lee Hae-jun, director of The Better Future Research Institute who experienced their child's violence victimization, vividly convey the pain of students who suffered from school violence and their families' anguish.
Experts including Seo Mi, head of the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute, and Kim Mi-jung, manager, appear to discuss the importance of 'prevention' through sentences from the book.
Questions such as 'What kind of parent am I?' and 'Do we really know each other?' are also discussed to explore how much parents know about their children.
Nam Su-jeong, director of the School Life Education Division at the city education office, said, "The book talk will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the seriousness of school violence through the pain endured by families of perpetrator students," adding, "I believe it will be very helpful for parents to find ways to communicate and empathize with their children."
