ABL Life Launches 'ABL Dementia Care Service'

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] ABL Life announced on the 7th that it has launched the ‘ABL Dementia Care Service,’ a comprehensive dementia-related care service that provides everything from dementia prevention to customized care services according to the stages of dementia.

This service is provided free of charge to customers who subscribed to the ‘ABL (Non-Refundable) Dementia Care Insurance (no surrender value)’ launched on the 1st of this month.

The service consists of healthcare and early dementia care services that help prevent dementia before onset, and dementia services that provide necessary care services to patients and caregivers according to the stage of dementia after onset.

Before the onset of dementia, the service offers health consultations, specialist referrals and appointment arrangements, preferential health checkup benefits, health information provision, self and early dementia diagnosis, and guidance on nursing facilities to help monitor physical condition and detect dementia early in daily life.

After the onset of dementia, carefully selected essential care services are provided to both dementia patients and caregivers according to the dementia stages of mild, moderate, and severe.

Upon final diagnosis of mild dementia state (CDR1), services such as accompaniment to advanced general hospital appointments, regular check-in calls for companionship and emotional stability, and psychological counseling for caregivers are supported. In the case of final diagnosis of moderate dementia state (CDR2), services such as vehicle escort and inter-hospital transfer support, and location tracker support are provided.

When the dementia stage progresses to severe dementia state (CDR3 or higher) with final diagnosis, services such as housekeeping assistance and nursing facility admission support are provided so that patients and caregivers can focus on treatment and health recovery.

Eun Jaekyung, Head of Product & Marketing at ABL Life, stated, “Considering the increasing trend where dementia patients are estimated to be one in ten people aged 65 or older as of 2020, we have launched the dementia care service for customers who subscribe to dementia care insurance.”
