Comprehensive Activities on the 6th Including Securing Local Extinction Response Funds and Expert Meetings
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jin Byeong-yeong, the governor of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, is pouring administrative efforts into revitalizing the region in response to regional extinction since his inauguration.
According to the county on the 6th, Governor Jin attended the Local Extinction Response Fund Evaluation Meeting held at the Korea Local Finance Association that morning, explaining the justification for Hamyang-gun’s investment projects and actively requesting support.
The Local Extinction Response Fund is a project led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that provides funds to 89 local governments designated as population extinction areas nationwide, with an annual scale of 1 trillion won over the next 10 years.
In the first year of the support project, this year, the county established investment plans for the 2022 and 2023 projects and submitted them to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the end of May. Based on the results of the face-to-face evaluation held that day, the fund allocation amount will be finalized by the end of August.
The projects submitted by the county include ▲ Construction of Hamyang Nui Center (12.16 billion won) ▲ Walker-in Hamyang Project (7 billion won) ▲ Garden and Cafe along Baekdudaegan with Youth (4.95 billion won), aiming to realize a ‘Hamyang where everyone is happy and good to live’ through region-customized projects.
Governor Jin Byeong-yeong said, “Leveraging the regional characteristics of Jirisan and Deogyusan and the pioneering experience as a leading rural utopia area, we will do our best to become a successful model for rural areas at risk of extinction.”
