Dehumidifier Sales Up 158%... Increase in Sub-Appliance Purchases

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] According to E-Land Electronics on the 6th, the number of people purchasing small summer appliances has been increasing recently due to the unpredictable weather.

According to E-Land Electronics, from the 20th of last month to the 3rd of this month, sales of dehumidifiers surged by 158% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, sales of fans, circulators, and portable air conditioners increased by 69% and 34%, respectively.

E-Land Electronics analyzed that summer sub-appliances are rising to the position of main appliances. Due to the unpredictable weather, such as humid conditions and heatwaves arriving earlier than expected every summer, consumers are increasingly seeking dehumidifiers with specialized dehumidifying functions and small cooling appliances that can be freely placed, in addition to air conditioners.

An E-Land Electronics official said, “As consumer demand becomes more segmented, we expect cases where traditional sub-appliances are regarded as essential appliances not only in summer appliances but across the entire appliance sector to increase,” adding, “We are running promotions that are good for purchasing multiple summer appliances at once.”
