[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 6th that it invited 23 high-ranking Latin American officials at the ministerial and vice-ministerial levels who visited Busan to the Hyundai Motor brand experience center. This was to support the bid for the 2030 World Expo.
The event was attended by key officials and ambassadors from about 10 major Latin American countries including Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, El Salvador, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Colombia, such as Arnoldo Andr? Costa Rica Foreign Minister, Eduardo Enrique Reina Honduras Foreign Minister, and Jos? ?ngel L?pez Guatemala Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food. They were visiting Busan for two days until this day to attend the 2022 Korea-Latin America Future Cooperation Forum jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Busan City.
Hyundai Motor Group conveyed messages related to technological innovation aimed at by the 2030 Busan World Expo to them. Taking into account that the space where the experience center ‘Hyundai Motorstudio Busan’ is located was a former steel factory, they explained the story of transforming an old factory into a complex cultural space as an example showing the cultural creativity of Korea and Busan. This place was a steel factory that produced wire ropes for 45 years in the past.
Hyundai Motor Group established a dedicated organization to support the Busan Expo bid last August, the earliest among domestic large corporations. In June, a researcher from Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D headquarters also attended as the main speaker at the second briefing session for candidate countries held at the General Assembly of the International Bureau of Exhibitions in Paris.
Gong Young-woon, President of Hyundai Motor Group, said, "Dynamic and future-oriented Busan is the optimal place to design a new future for humanity through the 2030 World Expo."
