Seongsoo Jeon, Seocho District Mayor, Holds Workshop After Awarding Appointment Certificates to 6 Living Lab Project Teams at Auditorium on the 5th, Sharing Design Thinking and Issues on Smart City... Former Mayor States, "We Will Strive to Further Develop Residents' Brilliant Ideas and Reflect Them Well in Seocho District Administration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held the "Seocho Smart City Living Lab Project Team Launch Ceremony" on the 5th at the second-floor auditorium of the district office and officially began operations.
The "Smart City Living Lab" means a "living laboratory," a resident-led participatory project where residents actively participate in discovering problems arising in daily life, defining the problems, and deriving improvement measures. It refers to finding solutions to urban issues such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, and safety problems by utilizing 4th industrial smart technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
At the launch ceremony, Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su presented certificates of appointment to 32 residents from six teams selected through a public contest last month. Afterwards, a facilitator gave a design thinking lecture on smart cities covering traffic, environment, and safety, and shared current issues for a smart city.
The proposals from the six selected teams include ▲Eco-friendly pet snack factory ▲Neighborhood fire safety keeper ▲Recycling of PT bottles (transparent) plastic ▲Installation of sensors in no-smoking areas ▲Come and Seocho Metaverse ▲Smart Mobility Transfer Center.
They will hold a total of five workshops until October to empathize with the problems residents feel and derive blueprints for solutions. In addition, the district plans to actively support the development of policies incorporating smart technologies through expert advice in the field of 4th industrial technologies.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said at the launch ceremony, "This is a meaningful and valuable occasion where residents identify inconveniences they experience in daily life and create solutions themselves," adding, "We will strive to further develop residents' brilliant ideas and reflect them well in Seocho district administration."
