[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Professor Jeong Seong-hoon of the Department of Geography Education and Regional Industry-Academic Cooperation at Kangwon National University has been elected as the new president of the Korean Geographical Society.
The Korean Geographical Society announced on the 5th that Professor Jeong was elected as the new president through an election held during the academic conference from the 23rd to the 25th of last month. His term will begin on January 1st next year and last for two years.
Professor Jeong has proposed pledges including ▲strengthening the academic status of the Korean Geographical Society and improving the conditions for geography teaching and learning ▲establishing a 'roundtable network among geography-related societies' ▲founding a Smart Convergence Geography Institute ▲establishing a Special Committee for Regional Extinction Response and enhancing the functions of the Special Committee on Geography Education ▲and revitalizing industry-academic cooperation centered on geography.
