Water Playground for Children Opens After 3 Years on the 9th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang County, Gyeongnam, will open the Geochang Changpowon Children's Water Playground, which had been closed due to COVID-19 since its first opening in 2019, after three years.
The water playground will operate for 31 days from July 9 to August 7. It is available for children up to 12 years old (elementary school students), and children under 8 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Admission is free, but due to safety management concerns, entry may be limited when crowded.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with 50 minutes of operation followed by a 10-minute break every hour. The playground will be closed every Monday and during severe weather.
The water playground, which is opening this time, features water play combination equipment (water depth 20cm), a water tunnel, water drop, and palm tree fountains, all first activated since their installation in 2021. Additionally, an air slide, air pool, and shade tents have been installed to provide a cool rest area in Gyeongsangnam-do’s first local garden while enjoying water play.
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, said, “As the Geochang Changpowon water playground is opening for the first time in three years since 2019, we expect many residents to visit. The county is putting great effort into safety management.” He added, “We ask residents to use the water playground with mature civic awareness to ensure a pleasant and safe water play experience during the hot summer.”
Geochang County plans to conduct pre-inspections of the facilities jointly with the safety inspection department to ensure residents can enjoy safe water play. They will also thoroughly manage water quality by changing water daily, chlorinating, and regularly requesting water quality tests using water quality testing devices.
