Gochang-gun, All-Out Effort to Secure Local Extinction Response Fund

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is making every effort to secure funds to respond to local extinction.

According to the county on the 5th, Shim Deokseop, the head of Gochang-gun, attended the 'Local Extinction Response Fund Evaluation Meeting' held at the Korea Local Finance Association the day before, met with officials, and actively explained the necessity of the project.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to carry out a local extinction response fund project worth 10 trillion won over 10 years, with an annual scale of 1 trillion won, focusing on 89 local governments designated as population extinction areas nationwide starting this year.

Accordingly, the county submitted an investment plan in May and is actively responding.

The Gochang-gun fund investment project consists of a total of six projects worth 61.6 billion won.

The submitted projects include "Establishment of a regular department for the Hanok Department at Jeonbuk National University Gochang Campus and creation of a Hanok cluster (11.7 billion won)," "Youth startup farmer smart farm complex construction and support project (10 billion won)," and "Housing project for newlyweds and youth startup farmers (20 billion won)."

Additionally, there are "Southwest region harmony cultural space creation project (8.5 billion won)," "Public postpartum care center new construction project (6.3 billion won)," and "Pregnant women call taxi operation and support project (5.1 billion won)," focusing on policy projects for youth, adolescents, and women.

Shim Deokseop, the county head, said, "These are strategic projects designed to minimize the outflow of youth and adolescents and to attract population from outside," and added, "We will proceed steadily as a catalyst project to overcome local extinction by reflecting the voices of residents and advice from various experts."
