[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The main event of the '2022 Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week,' hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, was held on the 4th at KINTEX in Ilsan.

'Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week' refers to the first week of July every year, during which events related to safety and health are held to raise awareness of the importance of safety and health in workplaces and society.

The 'Honorary Industrial Safety Supervisor' is a person appointed under Article 23 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act to promote participation and support in industrial accident prevention activities, responsible for tasks ranging from establishing workplace accident prevention plans to workplace inspections and supervision participation.

A total of 21 honorary industrial safety supervisors from various workplaces applied for the presentation contest, and six honorary industrial safety supervisors from workplaces selected through regional preliminaries participated to present excellent safety and health activities.

The Minister of Employment and Labor Award (Grand Prize) was awarded to Park Dong-chan, the honorary industrial safety supervisor of Pungsan Angang Workplace.

Supervisor Park received high evaluations for proactive safety and health improvement activities such as producing safety and health education videos and publishing accident casebook booklets.

The presentation contest was conducted as an integrated hybrid event both online and offline to prevent the spread of COVID-19. On-site videos were provided in real-time on the Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week website.

Choi Sung-won, Director of Innovation-based Technology at the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, said, “We hope that the excellent activity cases shared through the presentation contest will be widely disseminated to workplaces and lead to a reduction in industrial accidents.”
