Gwangju Hanam Office of Education Conducts Educational Environment Assessment Service for the Relevant Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province has officially launched the 'Overcrowded Class TF Team' as its top administrative priority to resolve overcrowded classes.
According to the city on the 5th, the mayor-directly supervised 'Overcrowded Class TF Team' is composed of experts in education, urban planning, and other fields, led by the head of the Lifelong Education Center as the team leader.
The first task of the 'Overcrowded Class TF Team' is to immediately carry out administrative procedures for the early establishment of a single middle school in Misa Riverside City.
The Gwangju Hanam Office of Education is currently conducting an educational environment evaluation for the relevant site and aims to submit the local fiscal investment review by November after a separate review.
The city has also initiated follow-up procedures for changing the urban management plan in line with the educational environment evaluation and investment review processes.
Other major issues include ▲ the establishment of Cheonga High School (tentative name) on the high school site 4 ▲ resolving overcrowded classes near the comprehensive stadium and utilizing the site ▲ resolving overcrowded classes in Wirye and Gam-il New Towns.
Hanam City has seen an increasing school-age population due to continuous population inflow from new town developments.
The overcrowded class problem, which began in Misa Riverside City, is a key issue to be resolved in Wirye and Gam-il New Towns.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae inspected the core issues of overcrowded classes in elementary, middle, and high schools by district in the old town, Misa, Wirye, and Gam-il areas, and ordered the preparation of various measures to resolve overcrowded classes in cooperation with the Office of Education based on accurate school-age population forecasts.
He added, "Since the overcrowded class issue is an urgent matter, we will make every effort to produce prompt results centered on the Overcrowded Class TF Team."
