[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung is mobilizing the management of its affiliates to actively campaign for votes to host the '2030 Busan International Expo (Expo)'.


According to the industry on the 5th, Samsung affiliate executives plan to meet consecutively with government officials from Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia, and others who are visiting Korea to attend the '2022 Korea-Latin America Future Cooperation Forum' held in Busan on the 5th and 6th. They will request cooperation related to local business and at the same time ask for support for the Busan Expo bid.

Carmen Moreno Toscano, Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister (third from the right in the front row in the photo), and Park Hak-gyu, President and Head of Samsung Electronics Management Support Office (fourth from the right), are seen touring the S/I/M.


Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and Head of Samsung Electronics' DX (Device eXperience) Division, has a scheduled meeting with Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico's Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Seoul on the morning of the same day. Vice Chairman Han plans to emphasize that Mexico's support for the Busan Expo bid can also contribute to business cooperation between Samsung and Mexico and ask for Mexico's support for the Busan Expo bid.


The day before, Samsung Electronics' Park Hak-gyu, President and Head of Management Support Office, Samsung Engineering's Choi Sung-an, President and CEO, and others met with the Mexican diplomatic delegation, including Deputy Foreign Minister Carmen Moreno Toscano, who visited the Suwon headquarters, to request support for the Busan Expo bid.


Lee In-yong, President of Samsung Electronics and Executive Committee member of the Private Committee supporting the Expo bid, plans to visit Fiji in mid-next month to attend the 'Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Summit' and request participating countries to support the Busan Expo bid. In addition, Kyung Kye-hyun, President of Samsung Electronics (Head of DS Division), as well as Choi Yoon-ho, President of Samsung SDI, Jang Deok-hyun, President of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Choi Sung-an, President of Samsung Engineering, plan to meet with local business partners during their overseas business trips to campaign for votes to host the Busan Expo.


Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is also actively promoting the Busan Expo by displaying advertisements supporting the event at Digital Plaza locations throughout Busan. Starting this month, at 23 locations including Samsung Digital Plaza in Busan Metropolitan City and Samsung stores in major department stores, they are wishing for the successful bid of the '2030 Busan World Expo' through in-store and outdoor exhibits and signage videos. A Samsung Electronics official stated, "We will do our utmost to provide comprehensive promotional support through various channels so that the entire nation can unite in support of the successful bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo."
