Completion of Gwangju Nam-gu Council Chairperson Team Formation... Full-Scale Legislative Activities Begin


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Hwang Kyung-ah, a member of the Democratic Party representing Constituency Na, was elected as the chairperson of the 9th Gwangju Metropolitan City Nam-gu Council for the first half of the term.


On the 4th, the Nam-gu Council held the 285th extraordinary session with all 11 members present and unanimously elected Councilor Hwang Kyung-ah as chairperson for the first half of the term, and Nam Ho-hyun, who received 10 votes, as vice-chairperson.


Chairperson Hwang Kyung-ah said, "To create a 9th Nam-gu Council different from the 8th, I will strengthen communication with fellow council members, actively support legislative activities, and properly perform oversight and checks on the executive branch as a council member and as chairperson." She also expressed her ambition, stating, "I will do my best to create a joyful and passionate working council for a new Nam-gu Council."


Vice-Chairperson Nam Ho-hyun said in his acceptance speech, "Based on my political experience and conviction, I will devote myself to enhancing residents' welfare and regional development, creating a resident-centered, field-oriented council, a research-oriented council, and a council that gets things done, doing my best for the development of Nam-gu."


In the afternoon, committee members were assigned and committee chairpersons were elected. Councilor Shin Jong-hyuk was elected as Chairperson of the Council Operations Committee, Councilor Jeong Chang-su as Chairperson of the Planning and General Affairs Committee, and Councilor Kim Kyung-mook as Chairperson of the Social Construction Committee.


Meanwhile, having completed the organization of the council, the Nam-gu Council plans to begin full-scale legislative activities by holding the 286th extraordinary session from the 12th to the 21st, along with the formation of the Budget and Settlement Special Committee.
