[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol, after attending the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, ordered thorough follow-up measures regarding the nuclear power sector, where the first results of sales diplomacy are expected. 'Sales diplomacy between heads of state' along with 'economic security' was a major pillar of this NATO trip. To this end, President Yoon held bilateral meetings with 10 countries including Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic over a span of 3 nights and 5 days.

On the morning of the 4th, President Yoon held the first senior secretaries meeting presided over by the president after the overseas trip and said, "I mentioned that I would do my utmost for nuclear power sales, and on this occasion, I clearly conveyed to the heads of state of each country the excellence, safety, and the fact that our nuclear power is the cheapest in the world," adding, "I ask the relevant ministries and the presidential office to ensure thorough follow-up measures."

At this meeting, President Yoon evaluated, "NATO inviting four Indo-Pacific countries including us as innovation strategy partners shows the importance of the Indo-Pacific region in comprehensive security cooperation." He especially explained, "Comprehensive security includes not only traditional political and military security but also global issues important to us, including economic security," and "Through bilateral talks with about 10 countries, we had meaningful discussions preparing for the era of economic security in areas such as nuclear power, defense industry, semiconductors, and supply chains."

In addition to sales achievements in nuclear power, he also mentioned the importance of universal norms. President Yoon said, "At this NATO summit, we were able to share our goal of achieving peace and prosperity through an international order based on universal norms such as freedom, human rights, and the rule of law with NATO member countries and partner countries."

Regarding the North Korean nuclear issue, which appeared in every meeting without fail, President Yoon said, "We were able to confirm consensus and cooperation systems on our government's position," adding, "These universal values and norms of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law that I have always emphasized are not only applicable in the international community but must be equally applied domestically and internationally in solving domestic issues."

He also did not omit a request for managing the livelihood economy. President Yoon said, "Our economic situation is very difficult. Many countries share a sense of crisis over inflation and supply chain issues and agreed that these must be resolved through solidarity among countries sharing values," adding, "Economic issues are not separate between domestic and international."
