[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Iseul] The closing film of the 75th Cannes Film Festival Critics' Week, Next Sohee, has been invited to the Fantasia Film Festival in Canada and the Amsterdam Film Festival.
On the 4th, overseas sales agency Finecut announced that Next Sohee (director Jung Juri) has been selected as the closing film of the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival, North America's largest genre film festival, held in Montreal, Canada from July 14 to August 3. The programmer stated, "The casting, screenplay, and direction are all excellent," adding, "The final scene is especially meaningful."
Additionally, Next Sohee has advanced to the competition section of the Amsterdam Film Festival, which takes place from August 20 to 27. Director Jung previously screened her first feature film Dohee-ya in Amsterdam, receiving invitations two years in a row.
The film depicts the story of high school student Sohee (Kim Si-eun), who goes on a field internship at a call center and the incidents she experiences, as well as detective Yujin (Bae Doona), who questions these events. In May, it was screened as the first Korean film ever to be the closing film of the Cannes Film Festival Critics' Week.
