Lotte Duty Free Strengthens Benefits for Domestic Customers in the Endemic Era
First-Come, First-Served Tokyo or Osaka Travel Package for Purchases Over $5,000 at Seoul City Stores
All Overseas Stores Resume Operations... Discount Coupons for Domestic Customers Visiting Overseas Stores
Lotte Duty Free has signed a strategic business agreement with Klook to strengthen marketing activities targeting customers of both companies.
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Duty Free is enhancing benefits for domestic customers in line with the increasing trend of overseas travel among Koreans.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization's recent Korea Tourism Statistics, about 316,000 domestic travelers went abroad in May alone, marking an approximately 320% increase compared to the same month last year. As of June, Lotte Duty Free's domestic sales increased by about 260% compared to the same period last year, indicating a rising demand for duty-free shopping among domestic travelers.
On the 4th, Lotte Duty Free announced that it signed a strategic business agreement with the global travel and leisure e-commerce platform KLOOK to strengthen marketing activities targeting customers of both companies. KLOOK, which started in Hong Kong in 2014, is an integrated travel platform where users can book local activities, tickets, and transportation in over 1,000 cities. It offers more than 490,000 local travel products.
Based on this business agreement, the two companies plan to provide differentiated partnership benefits for their customers. KLOOK will offer discount coupons usable when booking hotels, rental cars, and activities at overseas destinations to Lotte Duty Free members, while Lotte Duty Free will give up to KRW 250,000 worth of LDF PAY, which can be used like cash at Lotte Duty Free, to KLOOK members.
To commemorate the allowance of group tours to Japan, Lotte Duty Free is also offering a group travel package for a 2-night, 3-day trip to Tokyo or Osaka, Japan's representative tourist destinations. From the 4th to the 25th, 20 domestic customers who spend over $5,000 in a single day at Lotte Duty Free's Myeongdong Main Store, World Tower Store, or COEX Store will be provided with a 'Fly me to Japan' event, which includes airfare, hotel, meals, group visa agency fees, and travel insurance. Customers can choose between Tokyo and Osaka and bring one companion.
Customers who spend over $500 in a single day will also have a chance to travel. During the event period, customers who spend over $500 at Lotte Duty Free stores in downtown Seoul will receive a raffle ticket for the travel package. Detailed event information can be found on the Lotte Internet Duty Free website and Lotte Duty Free's official SNS accounts.
Lotte Duty Free resumed operations at all overseas stores by reopening the duty-free stores at Vietnam's Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport and Tokyo Ginza, which had been closed due to airport shutdowns and operated only as tax-free stores, on June 30 and July 1, respectively.
Lotte Duty Free offers various benefits to domestic customers visiting its overseas stores. At Lotte Duty Free's Singapore Changi Airport, Guam Airport in the USA, Brisbane Airport in Australia, and Da Nang and Hanoi Airports in Vietnam, customers will receive 10-15% discount coupons based on their purchase amount until August. At the Tokyo Ginza store, five customers holding a Gimpo-Haneda flight ticket will receive a KRW 20,000 gift card usable only on the day, given on a first-come, first-served basis throughout July.
A Lotte Duty Free official said, "We have strengthened customer benefits in line with the increasing demand for overseas travel among domestic customers," adding, "We will continue to provide differentiated benefits to Lotte Duty Free customers."
