[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As of 9 PM on the 3rd, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide recorded in the high 5,000s. The recent trend of confirmed cases has rebounded, increasing by about 2,500 compared to a week ago.


According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, as of 9 PM on this day, COVID-19 confirmed cases in 17 cities and provinces nationwide totaled 5,880.


This is 3,641 fewer than the count at the same time the previous day (9,521). The number of confirmed cases decreased due to fewer tests conducted over the weekend.


Compared to a week ago on the 26th of last month (3,301 cases), there are 2,579 more cases, and compared to two weeks ago on the 19th of last month (3,376 cases), there are 2,504 more cases.


Since there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 4th is expected to increase beyond 6,000.


The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases over the past week has increased by about 2,000 compared to the previous week.


From the 27th of last month for one week, the daily new confirmed cases were 3,423 → 9,894 → 10,455 → 9,591 → 9,528 → 10,715 → 10,059. The daily average is 9,095, which is 2,016 more than the average confirmed cases (7,079) in the previous week (June 20?26).


As of 9 PM on this day, confirmed cases by region are 3,317 (56.4%) in the metropolitan area and 2,563 (43.6%) in non-metropolitan areas.


The number of confirmed cases by region is Gyeonggi 1,817, Seoul 1,161, Incheon 339, Gyeongnam 332, Gyeongbuk 313, Gangwon 235, Daejeon 213, Busan 184, Chungnam 168, Chungbuk 166, Jeju 165, Daegu 164, Jeonnam 148, Ulsan 148, Gwangju 144, Jeonbuk 126, Sejong 57.
