[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A defendant who installed a small recording device in the door gap to record motel guests' sexual activities and conversations was sentenced to imprisonment with a suspended sentence.
The Criminal Division 6 of the Busan District Court (Chief Judge Kim Tae-eop) announced on the 3rd that it sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted for violating the Communication Privacy Protection Act, to 8 months in prison with a 2-year suspended sentence.
According to the court, Mr. A is accused of secretly installing a small recording device at a motel in Dongnae-gu, Busan, at 11:10 p.m. on February 12.
Mr. A placed small recording devices in two door gaps to secretly record the sexual activities and conversations of guests staying at the motel, but was caught by the motel owner, resulting in an attempted offense.
The court stated the sentencing reason, saying, "The infringement on privacy and freedom is significant, so the guilt is not light," and "The defendant admitted the wrongdoing, reflected on it, and the crime was discovered, resulting in an attempt."
