On the afternoon of the 1st, an SRT train departing from Busan Station and heading to Seoul Suseo Station derailed near Daejeon Marshalling Yard Station, causing injuries to 11 people. The photo shows the accident scene. Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 3rd that it is accepting applications for alternative transportation expenses from users who experienced inconvenience due to the high-speed train derailment accident at Daejeon Freight Yard Station on the 1st.
As the train was delayed for an extended period due to this accident, passengers who were unable to reach their final destination by public transportation and had to use taxis or other means can apply for reimbursement by entering their ticket refund number and taxi receipt on the Let's KORAIL website, and the amount will be refunded to their bank account.
Previously, KORAIL waived all ticket refund penalties caused by the train delay. Additionally, for passengers on trains delayed by more than 20 minutes, compensation for the delay was automatically refunded on the morning of the 2nd to those who purchased tickets by credit card or simple payment methods, in accordance with consumer dispute resolution standards, without the need for a separate application.
A KORAIL official urged, "Even if you purchased your ticket with cash, you can receive compensation by registering your bank account information on the website without visiting the station counter, so please be sure to apply."
