No topic restrictions in three areas: web/app service development, analysis reports, and infographic creation

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 4th that it is accepting applications for the "2022 Seoul Metropolitan City Urban Data Utilization Hackathon Contest" until August 5.
This hackathon is scheduled to take place over two days and one night from August 26 to 27 at the SPLX Center located in Sangam-dong. There are no specific restrictions on the hackathon theme, but participants must use at least one of the IoT urban data sets provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Additionally, the content must address urban problems or contribute to the public interest, and the fields include web/app service development, data analysis reports, and infographic production.
The contest is open to individuals or teams of 2 to 4 people. Through document screening, 20 teams will be selected to advance to the finals. The preliminary screening criteria include proposal suitability, creativity, appropriateness, and feasibility of implementation and utilization.
The 20 teams selected through the first document screening will gather in person at the multipurpose hall of the SPLX Center in Sangam-dong on August 26 to participate in the hackathon. Each team must present their results on the following day, the 27th, and based on the judges' evaluation, a total of six teams will be selected, including one grand prize winner, with total prize money of 10 million KRW and the Seoul Mayor's Award presented.
Park Jong-su, Director of Smart City Policy, said, "The purpose of this event is to increase the utilization of various urban data accumulated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and to promote its useful application in the private sector." He added, "We hope that through this hackathon competition, various ideas using data will be proposed to analyze urban phenomena or solve social problems."
