Inaugural Address

Respected and beloved citizens of Jungnang-gu!

The past four years have been a time when we gathered the aspirations of Jungnang citizens,

joined hands together to sow the seeds of a “Happy Future, New Jungnang,”

and nurtured their sprouts.

We focused on education and the economy and overcame COVID-19 together.

We served our seniors with sincerity and devoted all our efforts

to ensure our children grow up happily.

Jungnang-gu’s budget has grown to 7th place, and education satisfaction has risen to 3rd place.

The economic growth rate has climbed to 3rd place in Seoul,

and the happiness index of Jungnang citizens has jumped to 9th place.

Citizens say that they happily and comfortably use the Bonghwasan Donghaeng-gil, Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, Jungnang Mangwoo Space, and the scenic roads of Sagajeong, Sinnae-dong, and Mangwoo,

and remark, “Jungnang-gu has grown significantly.”

Thus, pride and self-esteem in being a citizen of Jungnang-gu have been firmly cultivated.

The growth and change toward a happy Jungnang are proud achievements made solely through the passion and participation of 400,000 Jungnang citizens.

Thank you to all the citizens of Jungnang who have vigorously supported and joined us. I respect and love you.

The approximately 40-day election campaign period was a precious time for me

to return to my original intention and reflect on the role of the mayor.

I met people hurrying to catch the first train at dawn

and those getting off the last train with tired bodies.

From alleyways to Bonghwasan Donghaeng-gil, Jungnangcheon, markets, shopping districts, and parks,

throughout Jungnang-gu,

I met many residents directly, including youth, seniors, merchants, and parents,

and listened to voices filled with the joys and sorrows of life.

Looking into the eyes of Jungnang citizens, I felt how great and earnest their desire for Jungnang’s development is.

I pledged, “I will work harder for Jungnang and embrace the lives of Jungnang citizens,

and I will further cultivate the pride of Jungnang citizens.”

Respected and beloved citizens of Jungnang-gu,

the election is now over, and it is time for unity and harmony.

Let us unite the hearts of 400,000 citizens who cherish and love Jungnang,

join hands, and vigorously set off toward a happy Jungnang.

The 8th elected Jungnang-gu will make our Jungnang the warmest city in Seoul,

the most proud city, and a city with a happy future.

We will raise the future generation of children well and make Jungnang-gu the top city in education satisfaction and the best education city.

Following the 7th term, we will double the education support budget once again

to make the public education environment the best in Seoul.

Children in Jungnang will grow up reading books,

and with the establishment of the 2nd Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, the Astronomy Science Museum,

the Youth Culture and Arts Creation Center, and Dinga-dong,

we will create an educational environment where children in Jungnang can nurture their dreams and grow happily.

We will significantly expand housing development and economic growth.

We will improve the quality of the residential environment through rapid and comprehensive housing development

and complete the relocation of the SH headquarters and the development of the Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town.

We have already built Knowledge Industry Centers 1 and 2 in the Sinnae IC area

and attracted about 600 companies.

Going forward, we will additionally complete the Fashion High-tech Complex and Startup Support Center

to create a thousand companies and ten thousand jobs.

We will support the fashion sewing industry and local small businesses

to invigorate the regional economy.

We will firmly establish urban development and transportation infrastructure such as the relocation of the Sinnae-dong vehicle base, GTX-B line, undergrounding of the Eastern Arterial Road, and the Myeonmok light rail.

We will create a cultural and warm welfare Jungnang where everyone is happy.

Together with the kind and warm citizens of Jungnang, we will respect 70,000 seniors,

and provide meticulous welfare to about 20,000 people with disabilities, children, youth, young adults, and women,

becoming a reliable safety net.

Additionally, we will take good care of Jungnang’s long history and beautiful natural environment,

and the Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park.

We will build two large cultural and arts centers and increase comprehensive sports facilities

to create a happy and proud Jungnang where various festivals, culture, and sports can be enjoyed in daily life.

To blossom education, economy, housing development, culture, and welfare in Jungnang-gu

and to raise the pride of Jungnang citizens,

I will carry out administration in three major directions.

First, together with 1,400 Jungnang-gu public officials,

we will practice warm and kind administration, clean and transparent administration,

and living administration that is present in the residents’ daily lives.

Second, we will expand cooperation and resident participation.

By normalizing communication and participation with residents,

we will gather residents’ wisdom and grow Jungnang with the power of Jungnang citizens.

Third, I will be a warm friend and neighbor-like mayor to Jungnang citizens.

I will continue to roam the alleys with early morning cleaning,

meet more people through Jungnang Masil, and find answers on site.

I will run for the happiness of Jungnang citizens

and be a mayor who is your hands and feet.

Respected and beloved citizens of Jungnang-gu!

Let us create the proud and happy future of Jungnang together.

I will surely repay the warm support you have given me

with “a happier Jungnang, a newer Jungnang.”

I respect and love you. Thank you.
