According to Seoul and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 10,202 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 1,218 more than the previous day's count at the same time (8,984), and it is the first time in 23 days since May 8 (11,411 cases) that the number of new confirmed cases in the mid-term tally has exceeded 10,000.
The number of new confirmed cases stopped declining in the latter part of last week and has shown an upward trend since the beginning of this week.
From May 25 for one week, the daily new confirmed cases were 6,787 → 6,239 → 3,423 → 9,894 → 10,463 → 9,595 → 9,528, averaging 7,990 per day, which is 930 more than the 7,060 average from the previous week (June 18?24).
As of 9 PM on this day, 6,004 new cases (58.9%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 4,198 cases (41.1%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By region, Seoul reported 2,778 cases, Gyeonggi 2,715, Gyeongnam 576, Incheon 511, Gyeongbuk 504, Chungnam 385, Gangwon 313, Daegu 311, Ulsan 311, Busan 298, Daejeon 274, Jeonbuk 274, Chungbuk 265, Jeonnam 243, Jeju 201, Gwangju 164, and Sejong 79.
