[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Lee Won-seok, Acting Prosecutor General (Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office), on the 1st, urged prosecutors who are relocating due to the regular personnel reshuffle to "do their best to ensure there are no gaps in their work."
At the transfer ceremony held at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office that day, Deputy Prosecutor Lee said, "Every move of prosecutors working at the frontline offices becomes a subject of interest to local residents in all public and private aspects," emphasizing, "The role of a guardian of the people, who protects fundamental rights by being humble, considerate of local residents, and listening to their voices, is the responsibility entrusted to you."
He added, "Rather than abstract justice and grand discourse seen from afar, listening attentively to the concrete and vivid voices of the people right before your eyes and faithfully protecting their fundamental rights is the reason for the existence of the prosecution and the essence of the profession."
He also stated, "Regardless of the region or the prosecution office where a prosecutor works, the tasks such as investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of sentences are the same, and the essence of the prosecutor's profession does not change," urging, "Especially in difficult situations, return to the basics and your original intention, focus solely on the people, and make every effort with the mindset of protecting the fundamental rights of the people."
The ceremony was simplified in terms of procedures and protocol, minimizing movement to allow focus on core duties, and was briefly held with only 50 attendees: 18 heads of institutions transferring from the metropolitan area to provinces and 32 transferring from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
