Shim Deok-seop, Gochang County Governor, "I Will Create a Happy Gochang Together with the Residents"

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Shim Deokseop, the 48th governor of Gochang County, held an inauguration ceremony at the Gochang Cultural Center on the 1st and began full-scale duties.

Governor Shim Deokseop of Gochang said, “I will create a vibrant Gochang where all residents are happy together with you,” revealing the administrative policy for the 8th elected term of Gochang County.

In his inaugural speech, Governor Shim said, “Based on Gochang’s great spiritual heritage, I will wisely overcome crises with the residents and become a governor who delivers a message of hope to future generations.”

Governor Shim set securing national budget and solving rural labor shortages as his top priorities.

He emphasized, “With the extensive network I have built over the past 32 years in central government ministries, I will firmly secure the necessary budget for Gochang,” and added, “We will increase the supply of foreign labor, establish an agricultural work agency center, and in the long term, supply advanced agricultural machinery to reduce the workload of farmers.”

He also attracted attention by mentioning the “industrialization of tourism utilizing world heritage” and a “major transformation of economic development.” Governor Shim stated, “We will create an ecological complex tourism resort spanning 1 million pyeong that links Dongho Port, Samyangsa Salt Farm, Gochang CC, and the world heritage Gochang tidal flats.”

He set as a major goal a profitable tourism industry directly connected to residents’ income, including tourism industry development, organizational restructuring, and the establishment of a tourism corporation.

He also announced a “great innovation of the Gochang industrial map” through a change of mindset.

Governor Shim said, “We will establish an RE100 industrial complex that fully utilizes renewable energy produced by offshore wind power and selectively attract eco-friendly ESG companies preferred by large corporations and young people.”

On this day, expressing his will to become a unifying governor, Governor Shim stressed, “I will carry out fair and just administration, especially prioritizing the elderly, disabled, children, and women.”

Shim Deokseop, governor of Gochang County for the 8th elected term, aims for a democratic society and transparent administration.

To this end, he emphasized “transparent administration,” “open administration,” and “two-way communication administration” that is open to all residents.
