[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 1st, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, took office, marking the beginning of the 8th term of the elected administration.


Mayor Hong said, "I stand here with the hope and trust of the citizens," and pledged, "I will always keep warm encouragement and support in my heart and actively reflect those intentions in city administration."


He continued, "Despite the exhausting and difficult days due to COVID-19, I saw the earnest eyes of citizens dreaming of a better future," emphasizing, "As the Mayor of Changwon, my duty is to turn despair and frustration into hope and courage."


He expressed his ambition, saying, "I will restore the vitality of Changwon's economy, improve the tough lives of Changwon citizens, and open a hopeful future," and added, "I will restore Changwon's honor, pride, and citizens' self-esteem, and help it leap forward as a hopeful city and a Northeast Asia hub city."


He also added, "I will pour my experience in planning and executing national projects while working at central government ministries and the Blue House, as well as my diverse human networks, into the development of Changwon."


The 8th term of the elected Changwon Special City administration sets the vision of 'Changwon, the Northeast Asia hub city' and the administrative goals of 'Ilsa-cheon-ri.'


Ilsa-cheon-ri means ▲the No. 1 place for the 4th Industrial Revolution ▲one of the world's four major beautiful harbors ▲one of the world's seven major port logistics cities ▲the second major regional hub city in the Republic of Korea.


To achieve these four goals, Changwon City plans to run its administration based on the 'Hi-Five strategy,' which includes ▲building an innovation-driven economic foundation ▲creating a caring welfare and happy ecology ▲producing a cultured and refined city environment ▲reorganizing the integrated urban spatial structure ▲realizing the dreams and hopes of youth.
