Gangjin-gun Extends Period for Agricultural Machinery Rental Fee Reduction

50% Reduction in Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees Until December This Year

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The Agricultural Technology Center of Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, is expected to help farmers by extending the agricultural machinery rental fee reduction period until December this year.

The county initially set the reduction period from January to June this year, but decided to extend it by six months until December due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the increased management burden on farmers caused by rising fuel costs amid the Russia-Ukraine war.

Up to the first half of this year, 2,149 farmers received a total of 50 million won in rental fee reductions, and the rental rate increased by about 30% compared to last year.

Currently, Gangjin-gun rents and owns a total of 505 agricultural machines across 55 types, operating four locations: the main office, Chilryang main branch, Doam branch, and Jakcheon branch.

Choi Young-a, head of the Research and Development Division, said, “We hope this rental fee reduction will greatly help alleviate rural labor shortages and enable timely farming. We will continue to strive to provide various benefits to farmers facing difficulties such as COVID-19.”
