[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University Hospital (Director Kim Kyungjong) announced on the 30th that it received the highest grade, Grade 1, in the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service's '1st Blood Transfusion Appropriateness Evaluation.'
The blood transfusion appropriateness evaluation is a system established by the HIRA in response to the need for managing blood usage and ensuring the safety of transfusion patients, and this year marked the first evaluation.
The evaluation was conducted over six months from October 2020 to March 2021, targeting hospitalized patients at the hospital level or higher.
The main evaluation indicators included ▲ possession of a transfusion checklist ▲ rate of unexpected antibody screening tests ▲ transfusion rate based on pre-transfusion blood tests ▲ transfusion rate of surgical patients, among others.
In this evaluation, Chosun University Hospital achieved a perfect score of 100 points, far exceeding the overall average of 69.3 points, and was recognized as the best medical institution.
Director Kim Kyungjong said, “As a result of prioritizing patient safety and life and doing our best, we received good results in the first blood transfusion appropriateness evaluation,” adding, “Chosun University Hospital will continue to create a safe and trusted hospital through proper blood usage management.”
