Director Kim Jo-il "We Will Spare No Interest or Support for the Healthy Growth of Youth"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) held the ‘Korea 119 Youth Corps Jeonnam Branch Delegates Meeting’ at 2 p.m. on the 30th at the Jangheung Fire Education Center, pledging to prioritize youth safety.
The event was attended by a total of about 40 people, including guidance teachers and responsible fire officers from 20 fire stations in the province.
The main agenda included ▲ Formation of the Youth Corps Steering Committee ▲ Presentation of outstanding cases of the 119 Youth Corps in the first half of the year ▲ Guidance on the nationwide safety camp ▲ Matters related to the operation of the fire safety song contest and safety news competition.
Immediately after the delegates meeting, the guidance teachers participated in safety education programs such as live fire demonstrations and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) experience.
The ‘Korea 119 Youth Corps’ was founded in 1963 and aims to cultivate proper safety awareness and leadership among youth. Nationwide, 1,027 teams comprising 26,974 members from kindergartens (daycare centers), elementary, middle, high schools, and universities are active as members.
In June last year, to enable more systematic operation, the organization completed registration as a special corporation and established branches at the city/province level and chapters at the fire station level.
The 119 Youth Corps in the province consists of 80 teams with 2,044 members from kindergarten, elementary, middle, high school, and university students, and under the guidance of 108 teachers, they are carrying out fire prevention and safety culture dissemination activities.
Kim Joil, Chief of the Fire Headquarters, said, “Through the activities of the 119 Youth Corps, we will spare no interest and support so that many young people can prioritize safety and grow up soundly and healthily.”
