Demolition of 'Sampyo Remicon Seongsu Plant' Completed by August 16

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Sampyo Industry announced on the 30th that it will complete the demolition of the Sampyo Remicon Seongsu Plant by August 16.

Sampyo Industry had promised to complete the demolition of the plant by the 30th of this month at the demolition groundbreaking ceremony on March 28, following a four-party agreement signed in 2017 with Seoul City and Seongdong-gu. Among the five remicon production facilities within the plant, one (Batch Plant No. 5) was demolished in May.

However, demolition was temporarily halted recently due to difficulties in negotiations with mixer truck subcontractors regarding compensation. On the 29th, negotiations between the company and the subcontractors were dramatically resolved, allowing the demolition to resume.

Following the agreement, Sampyo Industry plans to deploy four large pieces of equipment, including cranes, starting in July to dismantle all remaining plant facilities (Batch Plants No. 1 to 4, silos, and other major structures) and complete the demolition by August 16.

A Sampyo Industry official stated, "We sincerely apologize for the delay in demolishing the Seongsu Plant beyond the originally scheduled date of June 30, and for not fulfilling our promise to the citizens of Seoul. We deeply thank the Seoul City and Seongdong-gu officials who cooperated to fulfill the demolition promise, as well as the remicon mixer truck owners who agreed to the demolition."
