(Madrid, Spain = Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan) President Yoon Seok-yeol, who arrived in Madrid, Spain on the 27th (local time) to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, will hold bilateral talks with major countries until the last day of the schedule on the 30th. He is scheduled to attend a meeting with the NATO Secretary General, which was postponed once, as well as a luncheon with Spanish business leaders, where he will mention solidarity on values and norms.
The first schedule for President Yoon on the last day is a summit with the Czech Republic. This will be followed by a summit with Canada, which had been planned as a brief meeting the previous day but was canceled. A luncheon meeting is also scheduled with key economic leaders such as the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Trade and Investment Corporation, as well as leading Spanish companies like Iberdrola and Ocean Winds. A presidential office official explained, "At this meeting, President Yoon will review business cooperation between the two countries in digital innovation, eco-friendly future industries, and discuss ways to activate mutual trade and investment."
In the afternoon, a summit with the United Kingdom is scheduled. This will be followed by a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, which was postponed on the first day. The meeting with Secretary General Stoltenberg is expected to be a time to share the achievements of this visit.
First Lady Kim Keon-hee’s schedule is also set until the end. Instead of attending the second day of the official spouse program hosted by the Spanish royal family, she will have a private meeting with Mrs. Sanja Musi? Milanovi?, spouse of the Croatian president.
Meanwhile, during this visit, President Yoon is carrying out more than 20 schedules including bilateral talks, brief meetings, multilateral gatherings, and multilateral meetings. Although some schedules were canceled or postponed, the addition of talks with the French president, among others, has ultimately expanded the scope of sales diplomacy.
