Lee Jun-seok "Heard Park Sung-min's Resignation Explanation... No Voluntary Resignation"

Regarding 'Yunsim,' it was dismissed as "no such talk"
Drawing a line on the 'voluntary resignation rumor' circulating inside and outside the party

Lee Jun-seok "Heard Park Sung-min's Resignation Explanation... No Voluntary Resignation" Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, is listening to the current status at the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant PR Center before visiting the temporary spent nuclear fuel storage facility (MACSTOR) at Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk on the 30th. [Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Party leader Lee Jun-seok commented on the sudden resignation of Secretary General Park Seong-min, stating, "I was briefed on the situation, and since I agreed to accept Secretary Park's intention, he decided to resign." Regarding speculation that he might voluntarily step down before the party's Ethics Committee disciplinary review scheduled for the 7th of next month, he drew a clear line, saying, "That will not happen."

On the 30th, after inspecting the Spent Nuclear Fuel Temporary Storage Facility (MACSTOR) at the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, Lee met with reporters and said, "Yesterday, Secretary Park was in the Ulsan constituency, and since I was in Pohang, we actually came together and talked."

When asked if "Yoon's will (President Yoon Seok-yeol's intention) had departed," Lee responded, "That interpretation is possible, but there was no such content in my conversation with Secretary Park yesterday." Secretary Park is considered a leading member of the 'Pro-Yoon' faction within the People Power Party.

Regarding his early morning Facebook post that read, "Why think so complicatedly? Everyone should just run differently. In a direction they cannot handle," Lee explained, "No matter how many political situations arise, the momentum for reform must be maintained." He added, "Especially now, the party's approval ratings and the government's approval ratings seem to be experiencing recent fluctuations. The way to overcome this is to accelerate reforms, just like around this time last year. Therefore, I am saying we must move in the direction of reform."

He denied the 'voluntary resignation' rumors. Lee said, "I don't know what perception former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won had when he said that, but such a case does not exist." Earlier that day, former Director Park appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and suggested the possibility of Lee's voluntary resignation, saying, "Rather than receiving a harsh death sentence and dying, one should choose to step down voluntarily and make a comeback."

Meanwhile, Lee visited the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant MACSTOR and met with officials, emphasizing, "Due to issues like oil prices, securing affordable, safe, and clean energy sources is important," and added, "In changing the previous government's (nuclear phase-out) policy, we are moving toward increasing reliance on nuclear power again."
