Korea Airports Corporation, Agreement on Domestic Development of AI X-RAY Screening Equipment

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 30th that it has signed a business agreement with Deepnoid and CNI for the 'Localization Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) X-ray Screening Equipment' through private sector collaboration.

Through this agreement, the AI X-ray image automatic interpretation system technology jointly developed by Korea Airports Corporation and Deepnoid will be installed on domestically produced X-ray equipment developed by CNI to promote the localization development of AI screening equipment.

By integrating the previously dualized AI X-ray image interpretation system and X-ray equipment, the equipment configuration will be simplified to reduce installation costs and improve operational efficiency.

Yoon Hyung-jung, President of Korea Airports Corporation, said, "We will enhance screening accuracy and strengthen aviation security by shifting from the existing image capture-based interpretation to interpretation through digital data in X-ray image reading," adding, "Through private sector cooperation, we will expand sales channels to domestic private companies and public institutions and pioneer overseas markets to contribute to new growth business revenue."

The corporation jointly developed the AI X-ray image automatic interpretation system with Deepnoid in December 2020 and conducted a pilot operation at Gimpo Airport. In April, it was delivered and commercialized to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. In the second half of the year, the system will be expanded to Gimhae and Jeju Airports, smartly transforming airport operations and security screening.
