[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Ssangyong Motor announced that it held a ceremony for the first mass-produced vehicle of Torres on the 30th at the Pyeongtaek plant ahead of the full-scale launch of Torres.
The event held at Assembly Line 1 of the Pyeongtaek plant was attended by Ssangyong Motor’s manager Jeong Yong-won, labor union chairman Seon Mok-rae, senior vice chairman Han Sang-guk, production headquarters director Park Jang-ho, and related executives and employees responsible for Torres production, who pledged to produce products of perfect quality.
The event proceeded with a report on the development history of Torres, encouragement speeches by manager Jeong Yong-won and chairman Seon Mok-rae, a rally of pledges by executives and employees, followed by a commemorative photo session.
In his encouragement speech, manager Jeong Yong-won said, “Torres will be the starting signal for the normalization of Ssangyong Motor’s management. As proof, it has received hot attention in the market, setting the highest record on the first day of pre-orders in Ssangyong Motor’s history,” and added, “Today’s start of mass production was possible thanks to the joint efforts of executives, employees, and labor and management for management normalization.”
Chairman Seon Mok-rae said, “Ssangyong Motor’s labor and management have maintained 13 years of no-strike and no-dispute, and are striving for company normalization through self-help efforts such as wage cuts and unpaid leave,” and added, “Since we have prepared to launch Torres with perfect quality at the site, we will be able to repay the support shown by customers through pre-orders.”
Ssangyong Motor added retro sensibility by reinterpreting the unique heritage of Ssangyong Motor with a modern sense, creating an authentic sports utility vehicle (SUV) style never seen before in the world with Torres. It also features a large cargo space exceeding that of mid-size SUVs, advanced vehicle control technology Deep Control, eight airbags including a driver’s knee airbag, and advanced safety features such as a multi-collision prevention system as standard from the entry model T5, securing the highest level of safety and driving convenience.
Ssangyong Motor is conducting an event offering customers who take delivery by the end of August after pre-ordering a ‘Torres X Highbrow Multipurpose Tool Canvas’ made in collaboration with the emotional outdoor brand Highbrow, and an outdoor collection item (choose one between Highbrow Tool Canvas and Torres Summer Cooling Box).
Pre-orders for Torres are available at approximately KRW 26.9 million to 27.4 million for the T5 trim and KRW 29.9 million to 30.4 million for the T7 trim. The exact selling price will be announced with the official launch in July.
