"Best Efforts in Social Responsibility and Role... Investment and Commitment to Eco-Friendly Clean Technology"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Hanwha Systems has published the '2022 Sustainability Management Report,' which details its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities and sustainability management achievements.
The sustainability management report, released on the 30th, outlines four ESG management directions under the corporate mission of "Creating a richer and safer future through hyper-connected, hyper-intelligent, and hyper-convergent technologies": ▲Eco-friendly digital future society ▲Sustainable business partnerships ▲Safe and pleasant working environment and respect for employees ▲Transparent and fair governance.
This year, Hanwha Systems introduced and analyzed the 'double materiality assessment' for the first time, which considers not only environmental and social impacts but also financial materiality when selecting sustainability issues.
The report also presents specific strategies and business achievements related to key issues derived from the double materiality assessment, such as expanding a future growth-oriented business portfolio, strengthening business ethics and compliance, and securing sound governance.
It includes technologies and achievements that enhance sustainable value, such as new businesses in the aerospace sector including UAM and next-generation low Earth orbit satellite communication networks providing 'space internet'; landmine detection technology for public safety; establishment of marine unmanned systems for maritime safety; the company's carbon emission management system called Mangrove Solution; and the development of a metaverse education platform for inclusive future education.
Oh Seong-cheol, CEO of Hanwha Systems, stated, “In an era where ESG management is not a choice but a necessity, Hanwha Systems is fully committed to corporate social responsibility and roles, focusing not only on carbon emission and energy reduction but also investing in and striving for eco-friendly clean technologies.” He added, “Hanwha Systems is developing urban eco-friendly and low-noise transportation through the most advanced UAM business, significantly reducing carbon emissions, and leading efforts to enable more people to live better lives through hyper-connected, ultra-high-speed 'space internet' technology.”
