[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil project located in Deoknam-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City has been completed after about 10 months.
Nam-gu announced on the 30th, "We invested about 1 billion KRW to create the Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil to provide local residents with a restful life utilizing the ecological space within the development restriction zone," adding, "We hope residents fully enjoy high-quality leisure activities around Hyangdeungje."
The Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil is located between Bitgoeul Jeonnam National University Hospital and the municipal arboretum currently being developed by Gwangju City, and it boasts a pristine natural environment within the development restriction zone surrounding the reservoir.
Nam-gu secured project funds by participating in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2021 Development Restriction Zone Environmental Culture Project' contest and has been carrying out the main construction work since September last year for the comfortable life of local residents.
Currently, around 4,800㎡ near Hyangdeungje has been planted with various types of trees including weeping willows, Japanese snowbell trees, arrowwood, mountain azaleas, white horse chestnuts, spiraea, and silver grass. Convenience facilities such as shaded benches, rest areas, decks, and palm mat walking paths have also been installed for residents to relax comfortably.
The Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil connects along the reservoir trail to the municipal arboretum being developed in Yang-gwa-dong by Gwangju City, and the arboretum project is expected to be completed within this year.
Upon completion, the Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil is expected to become a new premium walking trail in the Hyocheon district.
This is because a long healing walking trail belt will be completed, starting from Bitgoeul Senior Health Town, passing through Bitgoeul Jeonnam National University Hospital, Deoknam Saetteul Village, and the Hyangdeungje Waterfront Health Nuri-gil, and continuing to the municipal arboretum.
Additionally, nearby are the Bunjeoksan The Pureun Nuri-gil, loved as a healing rest area, and the Daegolje waterfront walking trail, which offers the scenery and tranquility of the Daechon fields, providing walking trails where one can enjoy nature in all directions.
Kim Byeong-nae, the district mayor, said, "We have taken special interest in environmental fields and promoted various projects so that residents and citizens of Gwangju can enjoy a quality life in a pleasant natural environment," adding, "We hope everyone spends healing time at Hyangdeungje, Bunjeoksan, Daegolje, and other places."
