Kim Jin-tae, Governor-elect of Gangwon Province, Appoints Four Closest Aides to Assist Gangwon Provincial Administration

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Four close aides of Kim Jin-tae, the governor-elect of Gangwon Province, will assist the 8th term elected governor of Gangwon.


The Gangwon Province Governor Transition Committee announced on the 30th, "Park Byung-joo (38), former senior secretary, has been appointed as Kim's first chief secretary."


Park, a native of Chuncheon, graduated from Gangwon Provincial High School and Gangwon National University with a degree in economics. He has served as a senior secretary to Kim Jin-tae during his 19th and 20th National Assembly terms.


For the position of Special Political Advisor, Cho Dong-jun (56), a native of Hoengseong and former aide, was appointed. Cho graduated from Wonju High School and Sangji University and has worked as an aide to Kim.


Kim Tae-ha (35), a former aide, was appointed as Economic Cooperation Officer. Kim completed a master's program at Korea University's Graduate School of Media and Communications, worked as a director in the New Media Policy Secretary Office at the Presidential Secretariat, and served as an aide to Kim.


Han Jae-geun (35), spokesperson for the Gangwon Province Governor Transition Committee and a native of Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, was selected as Political Secretary. Han has served as head of the organizational team at the People Power Party Gangwon Provincial Office and as an aide to Kim.


The appointees will assume their positions on July 1. The chief secretary, special political advisor, and political secretary are appointed as special service public officials, while the economic cooperation officer's position is changed from the Peace Regional Development Headquarters to the Economic Promotion Bureau and classified as a professional term-based Grade A public official.


Earlier, on the 28th, Kim appointed Jeong Gwang-yeol, Vice President of Samsung Electronics and Chairman of the Samsung Media Foundation, as the inaugural Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs.


Jeong, a native of Chuncheon, graduated from Chuncheon High School and the Department of Electronic Computing at the Korea Military Academy. He joined Samsung Heavy Industries in 1993 and has worked in the Samsung Group Chairman's Secretariat, the Restructuring Headquarters, and the Samsung Electronics Communication Online PR Group.
