54 Critically Ill Hospitalized Patients... 10 Deaths
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The number of new COVID-19 cases fell below 10,000 in a day, but it was about 2,000 more than a week ago.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 30th, as of midnight, 9,595 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total confirmed cases to 18,359,341. Imported cases from overseas were 142, marking over 100 cases for five consecutive days.
The daily new cases had reached the 10,000 level for the first time in 20 days the previous day, but dropped back to the 9,000 level on this day. However, compared to a week ago (the 23rd), the trend is increasing. The new cases on this day increased by 2,102 compared to the 7,493 cases on the 23rd.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths was recorded at 10. Four were in their 80s, four in their 70s, one in their 60s, and one in their 50s. The total cumulative deaths reached 24,547, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 54, down by 5 from the previous day. The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 5.7%, with 5.1% in the metropolitan area and 7.6% in non-metropolitan areas.
With 9,761 new patients added to home treatment the previous day, the total number of patients currently under home treatment is 44,423. Among them, 1,861 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.
The fourth dose vaccination rate for COVID-19 among the elderly aged 60 and over is 31.0%. The first and second dose vaccination rates for children aged 5 to 11 are 1.5% and 0.9%, respectively.
