"Wow, So Humid"... Dehumidifier Sales Soar as Monsoon Moisture Strikes Large-capacity dehumidifier ThinkAir sold by Lotte Hi-Mart.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Due to the early arrival of the rainy season, dehumidifier sales have soared compared to last year. Retailers have launched dehumidifier discount events to capture demand for rainy season appliances.

According to the industry on the 30th, from the 20th to the 26th, when the rain started, Lotte Hi-Mart's dehumidifier sales growth rate increased by 50% compared to the same period last year. Electronic Land's dehumidifier sales growth rate also rose by 145% year-on-year.

The humid weather caused a sharp increase in dehumidifier sales volume. Last year, due to a dry rainy season and severe heatwave, dehumidifier sales were relatively sluggish, and this demand appears to have exploded this year. Marts showed a similar trend. During the same period, Emart's dehumidifier sales grew by 92.4%, and Homeplus jumped by 407%.

An industry official said, "This year, small dehumidifiers that can be placed in one-room apartments or each room, and cost-effective mid-priced dehumidifiers in the 200,000 to 400,000 KRW range are gaining popularity."

Accordingly, the industry has launched dehumidifier discount events to target consumer demand during the rainy season. Electronic Land is offering an additional cashback of 250,000 KRW when purchasing the Samsung Carrier 18-pyeong two-in-one air conditioner and Carrier dehumidifier. Emart is selling the Shinil 12L dehumidifier at 249,000 KRW, discounted by 30,000 KRW from the original price, and the Shinil 17L dehumidifier at 279,000 KRW, discounted by 50,000 KRW, for two weeks starting today. Additionally, there is a promotion where purchasing a Winia dehumidifier with a promotional card grants a gift certificate.

An industry official said, "Since rain is expected to continue until early next week, dehumidifier demand is expected to steadily increase. Typically, if the rainy season lasts more than a week, dehumidifier sales increase immediately to remove humid air, and if it continues for more than two weeks, sales of dryers or clothing care appliances that can dry clothes also tend to rise. Summer appliance sales will continue to increase."
