Mayor Oh Se-hoon and 25 District Heads Begin Official Duties After 'First Approval of the 8th Elected Term' Following July 1 Morning Visit to Dongjak-dong National Cemetery...Inauguration Ceremony Held in the Afternoon

Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Jung Moon-heon, Jongno-gu Office Chief, Along with 25 District Chiefs Begin Their Terms in the 8th Local Government Administration


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The 8th term of the elected local government will begin on July 1.


On that day, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and the heads of 25 district offices will visit the National Cemetery in Dongjak-dong in the morning to pay tribute and lay flowers, then return to announce the start of the 8th term by approving official business, thus beginning their official duties.


In particular, the 8th term, marking the 32nd year since the revival of local autonomy, is drawing attention as to whether it will realize a more mature form of local autonomy in line with the original intention of achieving resident self-governance.


The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that Mayor Oh Se-hoon will hold an inauguration ceremony for the 8th term at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts on the 1st, together with the deputy mayors, heads of departments and bureaus, and the 25 district heads, starting city administration in cooperation with citizens.


The 25 district heads, including Jeong Mun-heon of Jongno and Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu, will also hold inauguration ceremonies at their district offices or community centers and begin full-scale district administration.


Jeong Mun-heon, head of Jongno District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the Jongno Community Center from 3 to 4 p.m. on the 1st, attended by about 400 people.


Ryu Gyeong-gi, head of Jungnang District Office, will hold a re-election inauguration ceremony at the community center at 5:30 p.m. on the 1st, presenting the vision and key pledges for the 8th term district administration.


Lee Pil-hyung, head of Dongdaemun District Office, will deliver an inaugural address to residents and staff at the district office’s second-floor auditorium at 3 p.m. on the 1st.


Lee Seong-heon, head of Seodaemun District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at Inwang Market starting at 3:30 p.m. on the 1st.


Kim Mi-kyung, head of Eunpyeong District Office, will hold a re-election inauguration ceremony at the district office plaza at 5 p.m. on the 1st.


Park Il-ha, head of Dongjak District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony including a vision declaration at the district office auditorium at 2 p.m. on the 1st.


Moon Heon-il, head of Guro District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the district office plaza at 5 p.m. on the 1st. In case of rain, the event will be held at the Guro Art Valley Arts Theater.


Kim Tae-woo, head of Gangseo District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the Gangseo Community Center at 3 p.m. on the 1st.


Jo Seong-myeong, head of Gangnam District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the COEX Auditorium from 3 to 4 p.m. on the 1st, attended by about 1,000 people.


Lee Soo-hee, head of Gangdong District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the district office auditorium at 2 p.m. on the 1st, then visit departments to greet staff.


Park Kang-su, head of Mapo District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony as a vision and policy sharing event for the 8th term district administration at the Mapo District Office second-floor auditorium from 3 to 4 p.m. on the 5th, attended by about 700 residents and staff.


Oh Seung-rok, head of Nowon District Office, will hold an inauguration ceremony at the Nowon Citizens’ Hall auditorium at 6 p.m. on the 8th, inviting 638 people to announce the goals and new vision for the 8th term district administration.


Park Hee-young, head of Yongsan District Office, will start the 8th term by greeting staff without holding an inauguration ceremony.


In particular, Park Hee-young of Yongsan District Office is drawing attention by deciding to start work on the 1st, visiting departments in the afternoon to greet staff, as a measure of consideration for the economic crisis, public livelihood, and employees.
