[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, has canceled the inauguration ceremony scheduled for July 1 to focus all efforts on damage prevention and safety inspection for residents due to heavy rain.
On the 1st, Mayor Lee Seung-ro plans to announce his inaugural address through the Seongbuk-gu Office website and his personal SNS, then personally inspect flood control measures on site.
Prior to this, Mayor Lee sent a text message to inform residents that the '8th Term Seongbuk-gu Mayor Inauguration Ceremony' scheduled for July 1 was canceled to check the heavy rain response situation, asking for understanding from residents who were looking forward to and actively supporting the event. He also pledged, "In the 8th term, I will continue to prioritize the safety of Seongbuk residents."
Originally, Seongbuk-gu planned to hold the inauguration ceremony in the form of a healing concert sharing a hopeful message for the 8th term through various cultural performances and to have a time of communication with residents from all walks of life, but such communication will continue on site later.
Gwangjin-gu has newly decorated the district office building with a heart canvas featuring phrases that will bring coolness to residents during the summer days.
The heart canvas contains the phrase selected from this year's summer edition hopeful phrase contest, "The heat of the tree becomes a forest, and your shade becomes rest," and it will be displayed until August.
The ‘Heart Canvas’ is a banner installed for the first time this year on the outer wall of the district office to deliver warm comfort and hope to residents and share messages that resonate in daily life. The spring phrase selected in March has been displayed since April.
As the seasons changed, the previously displayed spring edition was taken down and the selected summer phrase was posted. The summer edition, combined with an image of a dense forest, provides a refreshing feeling to residents tired from the heat.
This summer’s selected work will also be shared with more residents through electronic display boards and the smart office guidance system in addition to the banner.
An official from the district said, "This summer’s Heart Canvas is expected to give a cool feeling as if being in the shade of a forest and provide a healing effect to residents exhausted by the heat."
In the upcoming July, another contest will be held nationwide. It is the ‘2nd Heart Canvas Contest’ soliciting hopeful phrases for autumn and winter editions. Through this, the district plans to present new phrases and images each season.
