[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is launching a large-scale campaign to prevent food poisoning.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that, to prevent food poisoning during the summer, it will promote and guide personal hygiene and food handling practices at restaurants and other establishments across the province through the 'Food Poisoning Prevention Communication Manager' until the 6th of next month.
The province previously appointed a total of 64 food poisoning prevention communication managers, selecting 2 to 4 from consumer food hygiene inspectors in each city and county.
These communication managers, who possess specialized knowledge in food hygiene, will visit approximately 1,000 locations during their activity period, including restaurants frequently used by consumers in summer, gimbap specialty stores with a high risk of food poisoning, and vacation area eateries.
The main promotional content includes ▲ guidance on hygienic and safe food preparation ▲ instructions on food poisoning prevention ▲ personal hygiene education.
The communication managers conducted spring food poisoning prevention promotional activities at 795 social welfare facility cafeterias in March.
Ryu Young-cheol, Director of the Provincial Health and Wellness Bureau, urged, "As the risk of food poisoning increases due to the hot and humid summer environment, please pay close attention to food preparation and storage."
