[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] China has lifted restrictions on domestic movement for overseas arrivals.
According to Xinhua News Agency on the 29th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) announced that it removed the star marks indicating high-risk areas from the interregional travel application 'Xingchengka' in the afternoon.
The stars displayed on Xingchengka indicate residents of areas where COVID-19 infections or cluster outbreaks have occurred. If a star is displayed, movement to other regions is practically impossible.
By removing all stars from Xingchengka, the MIIT has effectively lifted restrictions on interregional movement within China in principle.
Previously, some regions applied quarantine regulations such as refusing entry or imposing a one-week focused quarantine on people coming from areas with cluster infections like Shanghai or Beijing.
Earlier, on the 28th, Chinese quarantine authorities announced that quarantine measures for overseas arrivals would be eased from the previous '14+7' (14 days of focused quarantine, 7 days of self-health monitoring) to '7+3'.
