Mokpo City to Distribute Temporary Emergency Living Support Funds for Low-Income Households Starting from the 30th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, will provide a 'Temporary Emergency Living Support Fund' starting from the 30th to alleviate the livelihood burden of low-income households suffering economic difficulties due to COVID-19 and to increase their consumption capacity.

According to the city on the 29th, the beneficiaries are 12,860 households who, as of the 29th of last month, are basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class within the region, as well as single-parent families qualified for child-rearing support.

The total budget is 7.13364 billion KRW, fully funded by the national government.

Without a separate application, if eligible, the support will be provided in varying amounts via prepaid cards according to the number of household members, with support amounts ranging from a minimum of 300,000 KRW (1 person) to a maximum of 1,450,000 KRW (7 or more persons).

Exceptionally, recipients in welfare facilities will receive 200,000 KRW per person as subsidies to the facilities during July. The prepaid cards are Gwangju Bank cards and can be used at affiliated stores nationwide, excluding entertainment, gambling, and leisure industries, until the end of December.

The card distribution period is from the 30th to July 29th, and recipients must visit their local administrative welfare center with their ID card, or a power of attorney if receiving on behalf of someone else, to collect the card.

A city official stated, "We hope that the Temporary Emergency Living Support Fund will contribute not only to stabilizing the lives of low-income households but also to revitalizing the local economy."
