According to China's Xinhua News Agency and the Central Organization Department of China on the 29th, as of the end of 2021, the number of Chinese Communist Party members was 96.712 million, an increase of 3.434 million compared to the previous year.
Considering China's population was 1.4126 billion at the end of last year, this means there is one party member for every 14 people. Xinhua reported that since the 18th Party Congress, when President Xi Jinping came to power, the number of party members has increased by 15.9%.
The number of party-related organizations also rose to 4.936 million, an increase of 117,000 compared to the previous year. Among all party members, female members accounted for 29.4% (28.431 million), ethnic minority members 7.5% (7.285 million), and members with college education or higher 53.2% (51.461 million).
Xinhua explained, "On the occasion of the party's 100th anniversary last year, many young members joined," adding, "Among new members, those aged 35 and under accounted for 80.8% of the total."
