[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Korea Racing Authority Busan Gyeongnam Race Park will operate a drive-thru betting zone during the night racing period from July 1 to August 27.
Season 1 was operated for about a month starting April 15, and Season 2 will be operated reflecting improvements.
Korea Racing Authority implements night racing every year to provide a unique viewing environment different from usual, offering a new kind of enjoyment, and to protect customers, racehorses, and horse-related personnel from the summer daytime heat.
Accordingly, on Fridays and Saturdays in July and August, the entry and exit times will change from the existing 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM to 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
This year, night racing includes one more special attraction: the "Drive-Thru Betting Zone."
The drive-thru betting zone can be described as similar to a drive-in theater. It allows enjoying horse racing inside the car through a large screen installed in the parking lot and radio broadcasts.
Free Wi-Fi is provided for mobile betting, and manned counters handling ticket sales, deposits, and refunds will also be operated.
During Season 1 in April, customers responded positively because it allowed more comfortable viewing compared to the previous environment with restrictions on conversation and eating, and it enabled privacy and freedom to enjoy.
The operating hours of the drive-thru betting zone for Season 2 are the same as the night racing hours, from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
The Korea Racing Authority stated, "Since staying inside the vehicle for a long time during the day is uncomfortable due to the heat, we recommend using the service after 6 PM when the sun begins to set."
The drive-thru betting zone will not operate on Sundays as night racing is not held on that day.
Drive-thru betting can be used by making a reservation on the day before through the "Seat Purchase" tab of the Korea Racing Authority’s "Electronic Card" app, just like general admission.
Passengers other than the driver can purchase additional admission tickets on-site on the day of entry. Up to four people per vehicle can use the service.
The number of seats has been expanded compared to Season 1, allowing up to 18 vehicles per day: 10 sedans and 8 RVs.
If you submit a story, you can be prioritized for seat allocation. By sending an email with your desired date and story, if selected, you can be assigned a seat without making a first-come, first-served reservation.
A representative of Busan Gyeongnam Race Park said, "Many customers requested continuous operation during Season 1, so we planned Season 2 with some improvements," adding, "Night racing will be a more unique experience compared to Season 1."
The representative added, "Since you can lightly experience horse racing in your personal vehicle, we hope many people in their 20s and 30s, who usually feel the racecourse is far away, will visit."
Detailed information about night racing and the drive-thru betting zone can be found in the announcements section on the Korea Racing Authority website.
