[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has activated the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to prevent disasters caused by heavy rain.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that, anticipating heavy rainfall, it will operate the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at Emergency Level 1 from 9 PM on the 28th until the situation ends.
A heavy rain advisory has been issued from midnight to 6 AM on the 29th for all 28 cities and counties except Yeoju, Icheon, and Anseong. Yeoju, Icheon, and Anseong are expected to have the advisory in effect from 6 AM to 12 PM on the 29th.
Upon entering Emergency Level 1, the province is monitoring water level changes in real-time at the Imjingang border area (Pilsunggyo Bridge, Gunnam Dam) and strengthening real-time communication among the province, cities/counties, and flood control offices.
Additionally, safety measures are being reinforced through preemptive surveillance of disaster-prone areas such as landslide-vulnerable zones, and behavioral guidelines such as prohibiting access to heavy rain risk areas are being actively promoted using disaster text messages.
