[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, the governor-elect of Gyeonggi Province, and Lim Tae-hee, the superintendent-elect of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, have agreed to join forces to resolve educational issues in Gyeonggi Province.
The transition committee for the Gyeonggi governor's office announced that the two electees held a breakfast meeting at a coffee shop in Suwon at 8 a.m. on the 29th, where they agreed to work together to promptly resolve issues such as overcrowded and excessive classes, expand after-school care and programs, and improve student meal problems.
To this end, the two electees decided to establish a 'regular consultative body' between Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to maintain continuous communication.
The transition committee conveyed that during the meeting, the two electees freely discussed educational issues in an informal atmosphere while having breakfast with sandwiches and coffee.
A transition committee official stated, "At this meeting, the two electees reached a consensus that educational issues must be cooperated on beyond political factions and ideologies," adding, "We expect this to become a model case of exemplary cooperation."
