Visit to the Spanish Korean Cultural Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 28th (local time), First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, visited the Korean Cultural Center in Spain to encourage the staff, separate from the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Spouse Program.
This was her first solo schedule during the current trip without President Yoon, and the first visit by a presidential spouse since the center opened in 2011.
First Lady Kim stayed at the Korean Cultural Center in Spain for about 40 minutes, observing promotional activities such as the K-Fashion exhibition by the staff. She wore a houndstooth patterned two-piece outfit with a black waist belt.
Having planned the Fauvism exhibition featuring works by 20th-century art masters like Picasso while running the exhibition planning company Covana Contents, Kim encouraged the Korean Cultural Center staff promoting Korean culture in Spain by directly mentioning Spanish artists.
She said, "Spain is the hometown of Vel?zquez and the native country of Picasso, one of the founders of modern art, and is very famous worldwide."
She continued, "Currently, K-culture, K-culture, and K-cuisine are thriving in Spain, and I believe all of this is thanks to the efforts of the Korean Cultural Center staff over the past 11 years," emphasizing, "I think this is a place that really needs much more encouragement going forward."
Additionally, First Lady Kim said, "Isn't it possible to show all of Korea within this small space?" and added, "I can clearly feel how much pride those here take in promoting and spreading Korea. I would appreciate it if you continue to make great efforts."
First Lady Kim is also scheduled to attend a welcome gala dinner hosted by King Felipe VI and the Queen of Spain at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
On the 29th, she will follow the schedule provided by NATO, visiting the palace, the Royal Glass Factory, and the National Art Museum, and on the 30th, she will visit the Royal Opera House to watch a rehearsal and participate in a brunch event.
