Support of 100,000 KRW for Textbook and EBS Content Purchase Costs
for Students Eligible for Educational Benefit Recipients

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will accept applications for the Education Benefit Special Learning Support Fund for elementary, middle, and high school students eligible for education benefits from the 29th to September 30th.

The Education Benefit Special Learning Support Fund is a temporary program that provides 100,000 KRW for learning expenses to students who qualified for education benefits between March and July, to purchase textbooks and EBS content, in order to alleviate learning deficits among low-income students caused by prolonged COVID-19 related learning gaps.

Applications for the Education Benefit Special Learning Support Fund can be made by the eligible student or a proxy such as a parent through the application website. A proxy refers to the applicant for education benefits or the head of household or adult family members registered in the resident registration information.

The support targets elementary, middle, and high school students who qualified for education benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act between March and July of this year. Even if education benefits are later discontinued, support is possible if the student was selected as a beneficiary during that period. Since the application period varies depending on when the eligibility was obtained, applicants must check the available application dates.

The special learning support fund for low-income students is provided in various forms such as credit/debit card points, customized EBS coupons, and simple payment (Payco) points. It can be used at domestic online and offline bookstores and on the EBS website until December 31 of this year. Any unused balance will be forfeited.
